Bill of Rights Institute

Please join us for a FREE ond-day professional development seminar on February 2, 2012. The program will be held in Phoenix/Mesa area, and will explore the American experiment in religious liberty. This seminar is presented by the Bill of Rights Institute, thanks to the generous support of the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom.

James Madison Memorial Fellowship

James Madison Graduate Fellowships - through a national competition, the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers James Madison Fellowships to a select group of individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution. The application submission deadline is March 1st of each year.

The maximum amount of each award is $24,000, prorated over the individual period of study, thus making the James Madison Fellowship the leading award for secondary level teachers undertaking study of the Constitution. Fellowship payments cover the actual costs of tuition, required fees, books, and room and board, but cannot exceed $12,000 per academic year.

Happy 100th Birthday Arizona!
Teaching Arizona History with a Geographical Perspective Workshop

The Arizona Geographic Alliance is offering two FREE half-day workshops showcasing 3 lessons (grades 3-5, middle school, and high school) from their Legacy Project -- over 55 free online lessons. This Arizona history and geography workshop will also feature the new Arizona Atlas -- a 36-page, color edition of our classroom maps. Participants will receive 3.5 recertification hours and instructions on how to access all Legacy Project lessons.

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is taking nominations for their teacher of the year award. Nominees must be secondary (grades 7-12) teachers of U.S. History.
